My photobooth

I don't wish to state the obvious but it's New Years Eve.  To be honest normally I go to bed about 9pm in a sort of defiant anti New Year demonstration but tonight we party and I must be a jolly hostess until well past midnight.  My day has been spent building a slightly tin pot photobooth, which my children have dutifully tested.  Happy New Year.x

Agatha

If the truth be told I was just a teeny weeny bit hungover today following a splendid evening of the party variety courtesy of Ryans 40th.  I snuck off to bed at midday for a little snooze and woke to find Agatha tucked up under my arm.  Don't you just wish you could bottle that stuff because one day it will be gone.  Incidentally said three year old is now sitting up in bed singing at the top of her voice and chatting to her pillow.  Definately grown out of that day time nap then.

The childrens comfort food

Pasta with ham and cheese sauce and ribena. Quite hard to not keep nipping over for a mouthful.

My mother

Today my post is about my Mama.  It's quite hard to get her to stand still long enough to actually take a photograph .  She's usually hugely distracted by her Grandchildren or firmly ensconced behind the Elm Hill Craft Shop counter.  www.elmhillcraftshop.co.uk.   But here she is on Christmas day looking as beautiful as ever.  She also makes the best Christmas cake in the world and if I can get her to part with her recipe which she's been perfecting since the 70's I will put it up.

Blockhead

It's that funny bit between Christmas and New Year.  I'm not quite sure what to do with myself except eat the childrens sweets and try piecing together all the random bits of game that have been strewn over the house.
Our children found an old game yesterday called Blockhead at their Grandparents.  It's just coloured wooden blocks which have to be balanced as high as possible by each player in turn. Sounds simple?  Yes very and they absolutely LOVED it.  It probably cost about £2 in the 60's and it was played with more than any other flash, glam toy that has been unwrapped this Christmas.  It's true what they say 'sometimes the simplest things are the best'.   Oh and finger nail painting has gone down very well too courtesy of Aunty Abi.

Letter pressed biscuit cutters and stamps

I'm very excited about these.  They just arrived all the way from Australia courtesy of my lovely friend Clare.  Biscuit baking post coming very soon.

My girls

My girls with Grandmas Christmas cake on Christmas day.
Ottilie was so pleased with her very own old manual typewriter and a watercolour set which she is also mad about.  Agatha loves her train set and Rufus has enough lego to sink the titanic, or should I say the Millenium Falcon as most of it was Star Wars based.

My best Christmas cards from my children

Agathas card Aged 3 - Mummy dancing, surrounded by rainbows and yoyo's.
Rufus card Aged 5 - Lovely cracker
Ottilie card Aged 6 - Our beautiful Christmas tree.

Boxing Day

Sometimes only homemade soup will do on Boxing Day.  Leek and potato comfort.  Also I just found these stamps in the cupboard and wish I had used them for my Christmas presents.  How annoying!

My first blog

It's Christmas Day and I've decided that I love to write and I'm learning to take photographs so I'm starting a blog!  It may or may not be read, but even so it's a way of documenting some important things in my life and showing the things that I love.  It will feature anything and everything I deem of interest.  If you do happen to be reading this I hope you enjoy it.  Happy Christmas.  Oh and to start with here are some pictures of my Christmas Day 2012.x
