My house
Some things in my house.
All the children are off school today due to the lovely white stuff, and we're just hanging out eating cheesy pasta and playing shoe shops, oh and getting grumpy with transformers that won't fit together properly.

Agatha, glitter and cow parsley
Agatha and glitter glue.
I grew up in the countryside and cow parsley was ten a penny in our lane hedgerow. Now I pay £1 a stem for it in the local florists. Either way it's one of my all time favourites.

The best January Sunday lunch
Honestly Sunday lunch with friends is like January medicine. A walk in the park with some hairy bike riding and then slow roast lamb and pancakes. Comfort, warmth, jolly kids and lovely chats. I feel restored.

My shelves
These are my shelves which end up with all sorts of vintage pieces that I love. The Kate Greenaway bell was given to me by a lovely lady on an antiques stall. I read Kate Greenaway books as a child and I just love those drawings. Most of this stuff is from my stock though, as I run a vintage crockery hire company www.prettyvintage.co.uk. Sometimes things get cracked or damaged and I can't bear to part with them, so here they reside. Getting a bit cramped though!

Floating egg experiment
We need salt, water in a jam jar, goggles (not really!) and an egg.
Put egg in jam jar and watch it sink
Pour in 2 tablespoons of salt and stir to disolve.
Ta daaaaaa. Egg floats. Now that's science!

Still Life
When I was a little girl I drew and drew and drew. Both my parents went to art college and my Dad set up and ran the sculpture course at Norwich School of Art so I suppose you could say it was in my blood. My favourite thing to draw were still lives and even when I went to art college I was mad about painting pots and bowls. This evening I popped some fruit down on the table for Ottilie to draw, who is 6, and this was her finished piece. I love it so much I wish I had drawn it myself. I think drawing is good for the soul and particularly when you're little and learning to make sense of the world.
